Abundant Climate

In April 2026, Abundant Climate participated in two events at Shanghai Climate Week, sharing observations on shifts in the global orders and their implications for renewable energy markets in South and Southeast Asia.

Distributed Renewable Energy Forum

On April 23rd, at the forum titled "Long-term Role And Applications Of Distributed Renewable Energy," co-organized by New Energy Nexus, the Shanghai Climate Week Organizing Committee, the Shanghai Industrial Internet Association, and others, Yan Li, Executive Director of Abundant Climate Action Institute, delivered a presentation titled Navigating the New Global Order: Scaling Renewable Energy in South and Southeast Asia Markets.

The talk opened with the cascading effects of disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz, drawing on financial and industry data alongside futures analysis methodologies to examine how shifts in the global macroeconomic order are affecting the energy transition — with particular focus on Southeast Asia's evolving role in the global green supply chain, dynamics in renewable energy-related financial markets, and future scenarios for regional green energy transition.

Following the session, Abundant Climate team engaged in further discussion with participants from Pakistan, South Korea, Indonesia, Thailand, and other countries.

Climate Futures Workshop

On April 26th, 2026, at the workshop co-organized by Abundant Climate, the Futurist Club and New Energy Nexus, "Strategic Foresight 2035 · When Multiple Crises Rewrite Industry Rules, How Do You Win the Future?", Vivian Li, Project Manager at Abundant Climate Action Institute, delivered a presentation titled Navigating the New Global Order: Exploring Key Signals and Emerging Trends.

The presentation used Dalio's Big Cycle theory as its analytical framework, integrating financial and industry data with futures signal analysis methods to explore the deeper impacts of global macroeconomic order shifts on the energy transition. It focused on three key signals: energy supply vulnerability triggered by geopolitical conflicts, the explosive growth in electricity and infrastructure demand driven by AI, and the structural widening of the green transition financing gap — with particular analysis of Southeast Asia's shifting role in the global green supply chain and dynamics in renewable energy-related financial markets.

Following the presentation, participants collectively mapped out future scenarios for low-carbon industrial transition along dimensions including political order and technological advancement.

The above presentations are based on the core findings of a forthcoming Abundant Climate report on renewable energy in Southeast Asia — stay tuned!
